We have been in this house since we got married, almost six years ago. Before that I was living with my parents, so this was my first time really having my own space and doing whatever I wanted with it!
I painted our room green. And I regretted it almost instantly, but we were renovating our whole house so I knew repainting it right away was not an option. Fast forward six years later with baby #2 on the way, it was time to make some changes. Time to say goodbye to the green. In fact, we left that room altogether and created a new space! And now that its done, I don't know why we didn't do it sooner.
Anyway, here is our new room! I don't claim to be an interior designer or decorator or anything of the sort, but I had fun with it none the less! Its bright and fresh new and everything I could have asked for. Other than a Carrie Bradshaw closet, or an ensuite with a clawfoot tub... but you can't have it all!
Yes, you'll probably notice there is quite a bit of Ikea stuff in our room, but I'm really happy with how I was able to incorporate some local pieces to personalize the space. Because, details.
I have many favourite things about this room... but the fireplace is probably at the top of the list! I'm looking forward to cozy winter mornings in bed with the fireplace going and kids jumping all over us!
I love this heirloom cradle that came from family on Justin's side! I can't wait to see our little guy in it. For now, Lex practices rocking the baby elephant that she picked out for her baby brother! The beautiful floral hoops above the cradle are from Posie and Pine. And, they just added a rental portion to their shop, so you can get your hands on these beauties for that upcoming party you're planning!
The wall hanging here is from Jae to the Wall, I love its simplicity and the texture that it brings into the space. I have another one for Lexie's new room that I can't wait to show you!
The nightstand belonged to my Great-Grandmother. I had refinished it a few years ago but didn't love how it turned out... so I tried again, and I think it fits in our room beautifully! The lavender room spray is from Fox Blossom, and I use it religiously.
And last but not least, the hanging planter shelf. It is in an awkward little corner of the room that needed something, and so when I saw a photo of a similar planter I called my dad right away to see if he could help me make it. I don't know that he was necessarily delighted to hear about another project I had for him, as there are many, but what are dads for. Am I right?! It turned out to be pretty easy, and I am SO happy with the finished product!
We LOVE our new room! When I say "we" I mean me, because Justin would be happy with a mattress on the floor, and could care less about things like accents, texture, and details. But I'm pretty sure he loves it too ;)
